Good afternoon/Bon après-midi,

I’m reaching from Penny Lane Farm Sanctuary, just east of Ottawa. We are a volunteer-run, donation-based sanctuary, and provide a safe, lifelong home for 150+ rescued farm animals who have come from situations of neglect, abandonment, or abuse. What started out as a horse rescue over 10 years ago is now a sanctuary to horses, cows, chicken, sheep, goats, bunnies, birds, pigs, a llama, cats, and more! Every animal is given a peaceful, secure life, honoured simply for being, and never used for profit.

We believe our values of redemption, community, and compassion align with your church's philosophy and teachings. Everything from care to operations is driven by volunteers who share these values.

As we grow, we are looking to expand our community outreach and ask for support in any of the following ways:

  • Volunteering! All year round we rely on individual volunteers to help with morning opening and feeding chores, where volunteers can also meet the animals and join our community. Volunteers can sign up directly through the website.
  • Group Volunteer days, organized ahead of time to help with bigger projects such as fence building, cleanup, landscaping, etc. Email to organize a date!

*All youth can receive high school volunteer hours

  • Host a fundraiser directing proceeds to the sanctuary’s ongoing care such as veterinary bills and food supplies. In the winter this would also help with heating and purchasing warm materials for animals.
  • Donate or sponsor an animal to offer monetary support. We are working towards registered charity status, and until then securing funding is essential for continuing our work.
  • Organizing a canned food drive to help build our inventory of canned vegetables for the animals.
  • Partnering with any future eventssuch as open houses.
  • Displaying our flyer/posting on social media/spread the word to increase awareness about the sanctuary!

No matter the form of support, every bit helps us continue providing the care these animals deserve. We’re a small team powered entirely by volunteers and community kindness, so gestures like yours make a huge difference.

Please do not hesitate to email me with any questions or interest in anything mentioned above. May your congregation continue shining light and kindness in all you do!

Warmly,

Madie
