Family; a gift from God - Hazelwood, Good Gracious September 2023

    September 14, 2023

With the last long-weekend of the summer behind us, the school year is underway.  It’s been a while since I laced up a new pair of shoes, tossed a pack on my back, and headed off to the hallowed halls of learning; but the memory of that first assignment remains etched in my brain.  We had no sooner found our seats, when the teacher would tap a well-worn pointer on the desk and announce, “For our first assignment, I want each of you to write an essay.”  A collective groan preceded the announcement of “I would like to tell me all about your summer holidays.”

Asking for directions - Good Gracious September, 2023

    September 14, 2023

When you need directions, it helps to have a good GPS. Or access to Google Maps. Or an up-to-date paper map. Or a friend who knows how to get there.

As Grace Church begins a new leg of the journey, we have a Friend who knows the road. He knows potholes, construction slow-downs, and important scenery. Jesus is not big on shortcuts. But he guarantees to get us where we need to be.

Our challenge is to let him lead.
