People may donate to any PCC ministry or congregation by using the PCC stock broker. Donation forms and instructions can be found at https://presbyterian.ca/stewardship/planned-giving/ways-to-give-publicly-traded-securities/
During this time, the PCC stock broker will sell gifts under $10,000 CAD or $10,000 USD without charging a commission. (The normal commission is $140 for gifts under $6,000; $175 for gifts between $6,001 and $9,999). Please note: Multiple sales of the same stock, which together are worth more than $10,000, are not eligible. If someone wants to donate more than $10,000, they must donate different stocks which are each valued under $10,000.
To donate for this commission-free week, mark “Commission Free Week” on the donation form and email it to Maggie Leung Mleung@presbyterian.ca as well as the brokers. (Maggie is happy to help anyone navigate the paperwork as well.)
The securities must be in the PCC account by the end of the day on Thursday June 5, 2025. (Securities donated prior to June 2 can be sold during the commission-free week with the donor’s instructions.) The receipt will reflect the market value of the stock on the day the securities were deposited into the PCC account, and the beneficiary will receive the proceeds (plus/minus any gain/loss) once they are sold.
NOTE: We never have the exact dates of these commission-free weeks until 1 or 2 weeks before. We anticipate that there will be two more: one early September and another early December. Donors wanting to make gifts during these weeks can send us instructions to hold their gifts until the commission-free week.
