September 2022
Dear Innercity Intercessors,
It doesn't seem possible! Only yesterday we were looking forward to long, warm days of summer with all the delights summer brings — BBQs, swimming whether at the beach or pool, family vacations - camping or cottaging or traveling. What promise!
And now? This month marks the beginning of a new season. With the beauty of the changing leaves will come harvests ahead of frost, sweaters in place of tank tops and soups in place of ice cream. Most of us might grumble a little about our changes of season. For many of our friends on the street, though, anxiety is lurking. Concerns are beginning to mount in earnest - about finding shelter, keeping warm, having enough food, staying safe, having sufficient energy to make it through the cooler days and colder nights. And it's only fall!
Our volunteers are feeling the difference in season, too. Those on Door Outreach feel compelled to add a little something more to the lunches they put together for our friends on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Our Street Teams are pulling heavier wagons and staying out longer. Staff are working harder than ever to track down sleeping bags, find warmer socks, accept wondrous gifts to help us provide.
Your gift of caring by your prayers, makes such a difference. We've seen how a young woman, terrified and in an abusive relationship, finds the strength and courage to change her circumstances. A heavily-addicted young man finds the courage to find help and stay on track. A young couple with a baby on the way finds decent shelter. By your prayers, our volunteers find the strength and resolve to continue pulling their heavy carts. Sandwiches, lots of sandwiches, arrive just in time.
Thank you for your continued love and support. Just as you pray on our behalf for all of those in need, we pray for God's blessing over you and your life circumstances.
Bless,
Margo Dewar
