January 2023
Dear Innercity Intercessors,
Happy New Year!
Last month I shared some of what we at OIM could celebrate in 2022 in the midst of a year that was indeed eventful with more than its fair share of huge political, economic and health challenges for so many in our city, our country and the world.
As we wash our hands of 2022 and usher in 2023 with hope and optimism, on behalf of the OIM team and our Street Friends, please accept our profound thanks for a job well done in 2022. We are so very grateful for your prayer support. It mattered! We closed out 2022 with precisely the finances needed to offer an ever- increasing number of our Friends the essentials we commit to providing; abundant donations of warm clothing allowed us to expand our programming to offer winter coats, warm boots and other winter accessories; special packages allowed us to share messages of joy and hope over the Christmas season. And there was so much more gifted — essential food and special baked treats, blankets, underwear, socks (lots and lots of much needed socks), hats, scarves, mitts, sleeping bags, backpacks, shampoo, other toiletries. Perhaps the greatest gift was both the steadfast support of so many volunteers and the enthusiastic signing up of so many more over the year. When all is said and done, it is our volunteers who bring our visioin and mission to life, whatever the weather or other trials. Your prayers mattered! Thank you!
We are looking forward to what 2023 will bring. In faith we are confident that God, as He has been doing over OIM's history, will provide the resources our Street Friends need to get through their chaotic and perilous days and nights. We ask for your prayers of praise for that faithfulness and:
- For growing community awareness and support that will allow us to deliver meaningful help to an expanding and more diverse Veteran client group;
- For our Innercity Arts program to reach capacity (that fell off as a result of COVID) so that as many street-engaged youth as possible can benefit meaningfully from the safe and secure space we offer; and
- For outreach volunteer teams to increase in number so that we can reach even more of the most destitute in the heart of our city.
As always, thank you again for your continued love and support. Just as you pray on our behalf for all of those in need, we pray for God's blessing over you and your life circumstances. My 2023 be a great year for you in all respects!
Bless,
