GRACE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

Our Faith

Grace Church Statement of Faith:

  • The divine inspiration of the Bible - the divine inspiration and infallibility of Holy Scripture, as originally given, and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
  • The deity of our Lord Jesus Christ - the unity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the Godhead; the sovereignty of God in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgment.
  • The sacrifice of Christ - the universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the fall, rendering man subject to God’s wrath and condemnation; and redemption from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Son of God.
  • The presence and power of the Holy Spirit - the necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death of Christ effective to individual sinners, granting them repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ; the indwelling work of the Holy Spirit in sanctifying the believer.
  • Individual Responsibility – each person is responsible for their own sins and therefore their own response of faith to the work of Jesus Christ on the cross and the invitation of the Holy Spirit to repent, believe, and be baptized.
  • The priesthood of all believers – the gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to believers for the purpose of ministry and glorifying God. Ministry does not belong to a certain class of believer but to all who belong to Christ. All ministries proceed from and are sustained by the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
  • Christ–centred community - the Church as the Bride of Christ is a community and a sanctuary; one where people should feel safe to experience meaningful relationships, with God through Jesus Christ, and with each other. When Christ calls us to Himself He call us to community.
  • The divine institution and mission of the church - the one holy universal church, which is the body of Christ, and to which all believers belong.
  • The obligation for evangelism - the responsibility of each believer to share in the promulgation of the free offer of the Gospel to a lost world.
  • The return of Christ - the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ the third day and His immediate presence at the right hand of the Father is to be followed by His personal return at the end of the age, accompanied by the resurrection of the dead.
  • Personal Holiness - being a follower of Jesus Christ has moral implications for how we live our lives as His witnesses.
