Are you a service-oriented, mechanically minded, ‘do-it-yourselfer’ interested in a new part-time challenge? If so, the role of Facility Maintenance Technician may be right foryou! St. Stephen’s is a community of Christians whose mission as faithful servants of God includes engaging with the wider community by opening up its church building as a sacred space for worship and as a vital and vibrant gathering place for sanctuary, fellowship, learning, healing and celebration. In addition to our full-time minister, we have two part-time staff who help with regular operations of our facility, in addition to this newly created role.

The Facilities Maintenance Technician, through their work and through their attitude and interactions, is an ambassador for St. Stephen’s and its mission and plays a critical role in making all who enter St. Stephen’s feel welcome and at home. These are the outcomes that truly reflect the successful performance of the duties outlined below. We also strive to see our employees feel welcome and at home as they fulfill their duties at St. Stephen's. For this reason, we invite candidates from all backgrounds and lived experiences to consider applying for this position.

We are looking for an organized self-starter with good administrative, financial and project management skills, who likes working with people and takes pride in the appearance and functionality of their work environment. They enjoy solving problems by using their knowledge and skill in facility operation and maintenance, while also knowing when to call in professionals for more complex projects. The base hours are an average of ten (10 hours per week (with a great deal of flexibility on work scheduling), September to June, with after hours ‘first responder’ responsibilities for any emergent issues such as no heat. There may also be opportunities for summer projects in July and August. Please contact owenmahaffy@gmail.com for a full job description.
